Park, Facilities, and Beautification

Call to Order 7:00pm
Present: Wendy Gillund, John Bourisseau, Theresa Repicky, Kathleen Espisito, Mrs. Black, Curtis Black, Dan Durmick, Chief Pitts.
Approve December minutes with corrections.
Equipment Use procedures Tabled
Village Hall Sign
Reviewed and discussed the three proposals, including work done by the service department (treated posts – covered with sleeves). Considering the purchase of PVC sign and having the service department do the posts. Contact both Guthrie and ES sign for new proposals for cost of sign.
Gather new information on sign for March meeting and look at April installation per weather.
Garden Club would like to make some changes to tie all the beds together. See attached summary report.
-Need professional arborist to look at trees around Village Hall and Crabapple Trees.
Garden Club will provide suggestions of arborist.
-Check with Jeff Filarski about rain barrel at rear of Village Hall.
-Price of plants around $700.00. We believe the work should go out for a bid to at least three local businesses.
Garden Club will do the leg work –(Louis Post at Auburn Point Green House)
-Coordinate timing of planting and new sign replacement (possibly April removing plants and potting.)
-Yearly line item in budget for maintenance of beds.
-Include cost of preen, round-up and annuals
Garden Club will provide information for the March meeting.
Suggested the Garden Club include an article for the newsletter.
Approved summary submittal from Garden Club
Curtis Black would like to do an Eagle Scout Project to establish a campfire pit in the park and finish marking the horse trail that corresponds with the Metroparks. Project would be done the summer of 2011.
When he is ready he will return for his official proposal.
Bike and Hike path – No update
Mr. Durmick inquired about making a safer path along the road to the Metroparks. John Bourisseau will email Mr. Durmick information that has been shared with the Chagrin group that is organizing a bike and hike path in the community.
1. Re-establish native plants in the park meadow.
2. Establish a campfire pit in the park.
3. Monitor use of equipment to determine better storage.
4. Schedule events.
5. Evaluation of facilities and beautification
6. Bridge railing.
7. Mark horse trail in park.
