Parks, Facilities, and Beautification

Attendance: Linda Mislosky, Joe Hudson, Teresa Bidar, Wendy Gillund, Mayor Spremulli, Chief Pitts, and John Bourisseau
Approved December Minutes
Mike Bellah provided a presentation on upgrading the website service. The upgrade would include a more interactive forum. Joe Hudson indicated that since it had been a year, this was an opportune time to evaluate the website.
Mayor suggested that Mike prepare a formal proposal and submit to the next Parks meeting.
John Bourisseau stated he would like to inquire about clearing trees in the park that are located in front of the homestead and between the home and Cannon Road. Also, he was in contact with a carpenter to take a look at the homestead.
Wendy Gillund stated two more residents contact her about the McFarland Homestead. Rusty Snell and Jack Carney would like to be a part of the renovation. Also, the search for the original committee’s funds continues.
Greg Potts will be contacted for suggestions on stabilizing the home.
June 6? Tremendous Tuba Do ($250?)
July 11 Village Picnic – “Lolly the Trolley” to conduct History of Bentleyville tour. Hot dogs and simple food will be served. 12 – 3 ($640 for Lolly the Trolley)
August 1 Flea Market 10-2
September 12 Safety Fair 10-12
October 10 Ghost story telling from 8 -9:30, hot chocolate and marshmallows will be served. Contact Boy Scouts to set up camp fire. ($250)
The above activities and the funding have been approved by the committee.
Harry Madorsky acoustical guitar? Teresa Bidar will check into contact for music in the park
Eagle Scout project– Chief suggested painting the bridge railing. This needs to be researched first.
Potential Boy Scout camp-out with demonstrations for the public.
Mayor – Beautification of our grounds
Met with the garden club – their proposal
Allocated $350 in the past to the garden club in addition

The committee approved the garden club’s proposal.
The Mayor also included maintenance of gardens at $10 an hour one day a week (8 hours) to weed and water.
Wendy Gillund mentioned with the increase money to the garden club and the additional money for maintenance along with the restroom rental this would put our budget expenditures just over $4,000. The Mayor said he would find room in administration to pay for the maintenance.
