Review Police and Service Hours
Review service projects and equipment
The Chief provided an outline for a request to increase part-time coverage by 24 hrs. per week. The proposal would cover times during the day and early evening when there is only one person on duty. This would increase officer safety and relief the burden of having other municipalities to provide back-up. This request would be for the remainder of this year, with staffing for next year still to be determined. While their is support for this increase from those council members present, it was felt that the financial impact should be clearly understood.
The Chief reported that they have run in to a few roadblocks with getting the Narcan operational. He has the drug, but still needs to get the atomizers that are required to administer a dose.
We discussed some issues with the billing for services through dispatch. The Chief and Mayor will further investigate and report back.
We also discussed the pros and cons of engaging a service to administer background checks for new employees to the Village.
Dale reported that all the Fire Hydrants in the Village had been checked. They found 22 that were not draining properly. Dale notified the Cleveland water system and they have sent out a crew to check and mark the hydrants for repair. It was recommended that Dale notify the Fire Department of the hydrants that are draining.
We reviewed the ordinances on the council agenda to approve the bids for the roads program. The committee voted to recommend passage of the ordinances.
We discussed the ordinance on the council agenda to hire a full-time service department person. Council members in attendance are glad this will finally take place
